For 50 years, she was a hair stylist in Oak Park. She was also an avid shutterbug, a lifelong “yogaholic,” and a happy wanderer who loved to stroll and snap shots in Oak Park, the Morton Arboretum and Galena. She will be deeply missed by family, friends, and by her dog, Molly.

Betty Ward was the wife of the late William C.; the mother of William (Amy) Ward and the late Maria Ward; the grandmother of Meghan Ward; the sister of Edward (Joan) Gartner; the sister-in-law of Janice (the late Ernest) Doleys; and the aunt of Cheryl (Luke) Taylor, Steven (Becky) and Kenneth (Kim) Gartner and Mary Lynne Doleys.

Visitation is on Saturday, Sept. 14 from 10 a.m. until time of service, 12 noon, at Oak Park’s Drechsler, Brown & Williams Funeral Home, 203 S. Marion St., followed by private interment.

In lieu of flowers, the family appreciates donations to the Alzheimer’s Association (alz.org) or the American Diabetes Association (diabetes.org).
